HR Business Partner – People & Organisational Development
Rotorua Lakes Council CLOSES 29th February

Position Description

Te Kaunihera o nga Roto o Rotorua (Rotorua Lakes Council) is your gateway to meaningful work and community impact. With just under 400 staff, we're at the forefront of change in Rotorua. Dive into the exhilarating mountain biking scene, unwind by the lakeshores, and marvel at the geothermal wonders. Embrace our commitment to biculturalism, where we value staff who speak te reo Maori, who have an appreciation of Maori values and tikanga Maori.  We are proud of our partnership with Te Arawa, our local iwi, as we work together to shape a better future. From the Crankworx festival to the Rotorua Lakefront Redevelopment, your contributions will leave a lasting mark on our city. Join the movement and embark on a career that truly matters.

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced HR practitioner to join our People and Organisational Development team.  This is a rare chance to make the career defining move you've been waiting for – the opportunity to put your generalist HR prowess to the test and really 'sink your teeth' in!

We are looking for someone with broad experience in an advisory role to provide functional leadership, and deliver seamless business partner support to an assigned portfolio and the wider organisation. Confidence when working in Maori environments is considered desirable.

This comprehensive role encompasses the complete HR spectrum – in fact given the scope of our organisation you'll enjoy all new professional challenges, and the resulting rewards.   With a demonstrated HR background you'll thrive in the diversity these roles will deliver – everything from investigating, analysing and recommending on the broad range of HR matters, and the ability to advise and coach managers and business partners in people processes and practices, down to how to respond in culturally appropriate ways when working with mana whenua and Maori in general.

If you are an energetic, experienced people professional with a sound understanding of HR legislation and a relevant tertiary qualification, then this could be an opportunity for you.

Diverse, career enhancing HR opportunities like this do not come along often, so if you're ready for the challenge, we'd love to hear from you!

Kua whakapuare te kuaha! E kuhu mai! The door is open! Come on in!
